Our Uluru Sunrise & Segway tour is tour is a traveller favourite.

It is available year round and starts the day with beautiful sunrise viewing 🌅 and picnic breakfast at the foot of Uluru 🥐 ☕, followed by a Segway training session before setting off to circumnavigate the full base of Uluru on a guided Segway tour.

If you look closely, can you see that Uluru's surface appears to have vertical lines ↕ running up and down it?

Geologists tell us that these striations aren't horizontal as we often see, and are instead vertical because millions of years ago when this rock was forming it was tilted a full 90 degrees ⤴ and now rests on it's side. #NTAustralia #ExploreUluru #SeeAustralia

We often get asked from our travellers, "What's the best way to carry my belongings whilst riding a Segway?" If you've booked a tour with us and you're starting to wonder what to bring and how to bring it, then read on.

On tour, all of our travellers need to bring 1L of water per person 💧, wear closed in shoes 🥾 and bring their National Park Entry Tickets; whilst not mandatory, we also suggest bringing your phone (for a camera 📸), sunglasses 🕶, a hat or cap 🤠 (to wear under your helmet) and during November - March even some salty snacks (these can help your body not lose too many salts and keep you feeling good in the heat).

When riding a Segway you need both hands to hold onto the handlebars, so having a backpack is a great way to carry your belongings 🎒. In case you don't have a backpack (or you don't want to be pack horse for the whole family), we have some waterbottle holders (like the one pictured) which are perfect for putting your water and/or mobile phone in whilst Segway riding.

Uluru is located in what is typically considered a

Uluru is located in what is typically considered a semi-arid environment. In our region, we typically receive about 300mm of rainfall per year ☔🌧. Whist this rainfall amount is relatively low, when it rains at Uluru, the rock acts as a natural catchment, collecting rainfall and funnelling it to fill waterholes, like Mutitjulu Waterhole, and others around its base. Kapi 💦🌧(the Pitjantjatjara word for water) is life; and waterholes, like this one, are important places for Anangu.

Kapi isn't always present in Mutitjulu waterhole and around the base of Uluru, after pro-longed periods without rain waterholes like this one will slowly dry up, so being able to see Kapi Mutitjulu (Mutitjulu waterhole) so full is an incredibly special sight to behold.

Have you ever wondered why Uluru is red? Geologists believe that Uluru has a large iron content and over millions of years the surface of the rock has been exposed to water and oxygen, causing the iron to oxidise; creating Uluru's famous red rusty colour.

Have you ever seen a pygmy mulga monitor? This week on tour, our lizard whispering guide, Nick, was able to show this fellow off to our group.

Pygmy mulga monitors grow up to about 35cm and are often found in arid areas with eucalyptus, mulga and desert oak trees that allow them to shelter in hollow branches or amongst their bark. These lizards are infrequently seen on the ground.
